| Why Organic Cotton? According to the Organic Trade Association, it takes roughly one-third of a pound of pesticides to produced a single conventional cotton t-shirt. It would simply be environmentally irresponsible of us to not offer 100% organic cotton and organic cotton/hemp garments as an alternative to conventional cotton. The clay dying process used to color these tops is also more environmentally friendly. It eliminates not only the chemicals that go in to dying most fabrics, but also the resulting chemical by-products from the conventional methods. The color is naturally found in the clay of several different regions of the United States. Once the shirt is dyed you can be assured of lasting color, although the color shade will change after several washings - just like your favorite pair of jeans. The 100% organic cotton found in the clothes we offer is knitted domestically and is grown both in the USA and abroad. To care for your new clay dyed organic shirt we suggest that you simply wash it inside out with like colors in cold water. Use no bleach or detergents with bleach. Then tumble dry on low. |
